Introduction to Robotics (Ages 7-11)

Broxburn United Sports Club and First Step Robotics have partnered to bring you an exciting new Robotics Club!

Explore the world of robotics and coding:

  • Learn to code using fun, block-based programming
  • Discover how sensors, motors, and microcontrollers work
  • Build and extend your projects using the BBC micro:bit and robot kits
  • Program robots to move, react, and sense their environment
  • Take on fun challenges like navigating obstacle courses!

Monday – LEGO League Challenge Robotics + Technology Exploration
Ages 9 to 16
Time: 5:30pm-7pm

Venue: Uphall Station
Cost: £67.50 for the full block (equivalent to £7.50 per session).
Please note that the price will soon increase to £10 per session.
Full block payment is required—selecting individual dates prevents others from being able to book.
Dates: 28 April, 5, 12, 19, 26 May, 2, 9, 16, 21 June 2025

Technology Exploration
Ages 11 to 17 / Wednesday Time: 5:30-7:00pm

  • Design and build robots using 3D-printed parts and modular kits
  • Learn the basics of AI and automation in robotics
  • Collaborate on real projects and develop leadership skills
  • Embrace trial and error to improve designs

Ages 11 to 17 / Time: 9:30-11:00am
Course Content
  • Learn to program with Python and block-based coding
  • Designing and building robots using 3D-printed parts and kits
  • Basics of AI and automation for robotics projects
  • Work collaboratively on projects and take on leadership roles
  • Learning from failures and improving designs
  • Documenting progress and pitching ideas to a panel of experts
  • Opportunity to take part in our Robotics competition on Saturday 21st June in Broxburn.

Ages 7 to 11
Time: 9:30-11:00am
Course Content:
  • This program introduces young people to robotics, engineering, and coding in a fun and hands-on way using the VEX IQ platform. Each session combines technical learning with creative challenges and teamwork. 
  • Learn to program with block-based coding.
  • Understand components like sensors, motors, microcontrollers, and wiring.
  • Extend the use of the BBC micro-bit using robot kits.
  • Documenting progress and pitching ideas to a panel of experts
  • Opportunity to take part in our Robotics competition on Saturday 21st June in Broxburn.
